Week 40

Dear Everyone,

So a lot of this week has been getting to know my new area. Bakersfield is a lot different than my last two areas haha for starters there is actually green grass out here! The people seem great here too and that's what really matters. I find that there are good people everywhere!  My new companion is Elder Broadhead, he's from New York and he has been on his mission for about 21 months. He's a really cool guy and I'm really glad to be companions with him. I think I'll be able to learn a lot from him. There aren't a lot of stories to tell about this week but I have pictures from previous weeks with other missionaries and from the hospital last week.
One thing that has been impressed on me this week is the importance of goals. Not just setting goals but reviewing them and making decisions that help you achieve those goals. Quite often the things that stick out to me each week are things that I need to work on. This is definitely one of those times! I think many, if not all of us, have set goals and then for one reason or another, forgot all about them. What happens to the motivation and the fire I  had when I was setting those goals? Something I've heard before that I found to be true for me is that "the person who set the alarm at night is not the same person who wakes up in the morning and shuts it off." Its not just true with waking up but I think its true whenever we set goals. The person who sets the goals and the person who has to actually put in the work to achieve those goals dont always see eye to eye. How can I get those two people to agree? That is not a question that I have the best answer to so if anyone has ideas please share!
Along with the idea of goals and remembering them, is the sacrament. When we take the sacrament we promise that we will "always remember" Christ. Many times I've taken the sacrament and set goals to better myself that week and then been back the very next week setting the same exact goals because I forgot them during the week. How do we remember? How do you remember? I'm searching for the best way I can remember. Not just how to remember my goals but more importantly how to remember my Savior, Jesus Christ. Remembering Him will help me remember my potential as a child of God and help me achieve whatever worthy goals I set to better myself. I want to become a better person and that will take some time haha so I guess I'm learning some patience with myself and trust In God too.
Thank you to everyone who has been sending me emails, mail, and packages! They mean a lot! I hope everyone has a great week and enjoy the pictures!
