Week 15

Dear everyone,
So I'll lead off by letting you all know that I'm getting transferred! I'm going all the way to Rosamond! Haha it's just like 30 miles away and still in the same district I'm in right now. My companion will be Elder Greenhalgh (Greenhall) who I've been with on exchanges in that area before. I'm excited and also nervous to be in a new area but it will all work out great. I'm really going to miss seeing all of the people we're teaching here in North Edwards and Boron but I'll have the opportunity to see some of them about once every six weeks while I'm on exchanges with my District Leader.

Elder Whiteley will be training another brand new missionary and so I'm excited to see what he will be like as well. I'll put my new address at the bottom of this email so if people want to continue to send me letters you know where to send them!

Speaking of that, thank you to everyone who sent me letters and packages for my birthday! I loved all that I received and appreciate it so much! I actually haven't been able to make all of the cake/desserts that were sent because I had quite an unexpected weekend so I will get to make those this week with my new companion. But this weekend was very memorable. Being able to hear the voice of the leaders in our church at General Conference was an amazing birthday present.

On Saturday I began my first experience with General Conference as a missionary and it was fantastic. I will probably include a more detailed summary of my favorite parts of conference in my email next week but I really want to talk about my very unique and interesting birthday night. So for general conference the missionaries in our zone attended at the stake center which means that we went down to Lancaster and we were going to stay there with the zone leaders for the night so we could attend at the stake center for the Sunday sessions of conference as well. After the last session of conference on Saturday night we went with the zone leaders to visit a recent convert named Hermana Rosario (the zone leaders are Spanish speaking Elders). Turns out it was Hermana Rosario's Birthday on Saturday as well! And so we joined them for a little bit and got to enjoy some pickled pig skin...which was a very new experience haha hot sauce makes almost everything better.

Haha once my companion found out what it was he didn't touch it! Unfortunately he found out what it was before he tried it haha. That experience along with an opportunity for almost our entire zone (about 14 missionaries) to be an answer to a woman's prayers as an impromptu moving team between conference sessions, finding out about transfers, and being so spiritually fed by conference made it an extremely memorable birthday. It's amazing how Heavenly Father can present us with unexpected opportunities and put us in unique circumstances that build up our testimonies in ways we haven't thought of before.

One thing that I know I have gained from listening to General Conference this weekend was a stronger personal testimony that Christ our Savior is truly leading His church here on Earth. And He does that through Prophets who give us the counsel to lift and strengthen us. Then it is up to us to take those messages of Christ and His restored gospel to God's children (our friends) to help lift and strengthen them. Look for opportunities to serve this week. Whether it's a stranger, a friend, an enemy, a neighbor, a roommate, or a family member, find a way to serve! It feels great to serve! Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Anderson
