Week 23
Dear Everyone,
I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving! We did! When some
of our investigators asked what we did for Thanksgiving we said
"missionary work" haha they couldn't believe it but its what we did!
They ask us if we're going home for Christmas too and they cant believe we
don't for that either. Haha but it's just part of what we do! And coming up on
the Christmas season we have the opportunity to talk to a lot of people about
Light the World. We're excited about that because we meet a lot of really good
people out here and I think they'll enjoy participating in the service for
Light the World. I hope everyone is able to participate and see how they can
bless other people's lives during this season.
I want to share a little miracle we saw this week in our
area. On Friday we had planned to stop by
some people and when we did they either weren't home or they couldn't
meet and so after our plans and our backup plans fell through we started
walking around the area to see who we could meet. While we were walking we saw
a guy and waved to him and said hi and he asked "hey are you
Mormons?" haha we don't exactly get people asking that everyday the way he
did. We went over and started talking to him and he has cousins who are Mormon
who he's never met. He shared with us that just a few weeks earlier he prayed
and told God that he didn't feel like he was very committed to God and that he
wanted God to help him with that. Then he said that after saying that prayer he
he actually started getting worse and doing some wrong things and then got
arrested and put in jail. While he was in jail he had some other experiences
with prayer that strengthened his faith. Then on Tuesday he got out of jail and
on Friday he met us. We'll be meeting with him again this Wednesday haha so
we're really excited for that. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are
leading this work and that they are in the smallest details of our lives. So
much so that we can be led by the Spirit to a specific street at a specific
time and not even realize we are being led to a specific someone. We might look
at plans falling through as a failure but when we are in the service of God, we
are bringing about His will and are His instruments here on Earth. God loves
each and every one of us and He puts us as missionaries or members of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or anyone regardless of belief into
other people's lives so that we can help them on their journey back to Him.
Take the time to share your testimony with someone this Christmas season. Serve
someone and be a blessing to their lives! Thank you to everyone who sent
prayers and packages my way for Thanksgiving!
Pictures:
1. Just in case you though I was in civilization, this is a
sign at a park in Rosamond. It used to say FISH Cleaning haha and now it says
to keep our horses off the grass....so many restrictions here in California ;)
2. An investigator of ours drove a tow truck for work and he
just quit his job and is thinking about starting a wood working business. He
stained this coffee table top by hand using wood stain, paper towels, and one
of his wife's makeup brushes haha I think he's onto something!
