Week 18

Hello Everyone,
So through the first three weeks of this transfer we have been working really hard and we have been getting more and more lessons set up. We’ve definitely seen our work being guided. Preach My Gospel says “nothing happens in missionary work until you find someone to teach” and that’s true. But now that we’re finding people in this area we need to help them progress.

As missionaries we invite people to commit to doing things like reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it. As they make those commitments and keep those commitments they progress. Their faith in Jesus Christ is increased and they are preparing themselves to make more commitments later on. God promises us that as we keep the commitments we make with Him, we will be blessed. I know that there are so many blessings that God wants to give us that are conditioned on us being obedient to the things that Christ asks us to do. So when we start meeting with those we teach we want them to have the blessings that Heavenly Father promises us. And those blessings come when they keep the commitments we leave with them. As bad as we want things for them, at the end of the day they have to want it for themselves. It's that way with all of us and our Heavenly Father. There's so much that He wants for us but we have to want those things for ourselves before He can give them to us. You can lead a horse to the water but you can’t make it drink. That is one of the most non-scriptural truths I am experiencing right now haha but it's a process that doesn't happen overnight.

That seems to be a reoccurring theme this week. I know that for me it isn’t always easy to do what my Heavenly Father asks me to do right when He asks. I know that I’ve found a lot of comfort in knowing that Heavenly Father wants the best possible things for us. And sometimes that’s not what we think the best things for us are. But He never gives up on us. I feel very blessed in this area because we have the people we have to teach. Heavenly Father trusts us with His children in Rosamond, California and that’s saying a lot haha so we feel pretty responsible for things here. We’re doing our best and I’ve seen how Heavenly Father guides His work here. I hope everyone is doing well and has a great week! I appreciate all of the emails, letters, and packages that are sent. They really are the icing on the cake at the end of the day haha so thank you! If there’s anything I can do for anyone don’t hesitate to let me know! Keep working hard!

 Love,

 Elder Anderson
