Week One: First Week at the MTC
Hey everyone! Tuesday is my P-Day just so everyone knows! I
don't know
exactly what all to tell you cuz I don't have all the time
in the
world. I guess for starters I can say this adventure started
last
Wednesday the 21st of June. So I wasn't exactly on time to
the MTC on
Wednesday so i guess I was about 5 years and 55 minutes late
to the
MTC hahaha just kidding, I think the timing has been
perfect. Right
from when I was kicked to the curb (just kidding mom and dad
you
didn't kick me to the curb) I was greeted by a missionary
that was
going to help me take my bags to my residence and help me
get my tags
and such and while we were talking I found out that he was
from
college station and was the son of the institute director
there so
it's a small world. I feel like the district I have been put
into is
definitely a group of people I needed to meet, especially
the other
elders. We've all gone through some trials in the first week
I think
but over all I know we've all been able to support each
other and help
each other out. We've grown really close and we have a good
time
learning and laughing at ourselves together. That was one of
the
pieces of advice that was given to us by our branch
president this
first week, learn to laugh at ourselves. It has been really
helpful
haha.
So this first week has been a lot learning and classes and
just
getting used to the whole schedule. There have been a lot of
moments
of confusion but things always get figured out and they all
work out.
This week, one of the biggest affirmations of something I
already
believed is that life goes on haha and what I mean by that
is that we
might find ourselves in uncomfortable situations in life or
times
where we feel like we don't know what to do, and that
feeling always
kind of sucks. But the reality is that those feelings and
those times
don't stay that way forever, and if we can just remember why
we are
doing those things and that life goes on, we can get through
it.
I've tried to write down all these things I've wanted to say
to
everyone in this email but I have a lot of extra things
today that I
won't normally have on p-days. There are so many things that
ive
written down that I want to say in these emails or put on
the blog but
I just dont have the time to write it all here today. So I'm
just
going to say that I love everyone who has supported me and
been
praying for me. I can feel that people are praying and
thinking about
me and so I appreciate all of that so much. I'm going to
send some
pictures a little later so be ready for some selfies haha
I'm using an
iPad that's from the MTC right now and can't take it out of
its case
so selfies are the best I can do.
But having an iPad
also means that I'm allowed to read emails
throughout the week I just can't respond until Tuesday's so
send me
emails anytime!
Love,
Elder Anderson
This is me in class becoming an angel from all the good stuff we're learning :) you can see the halo forming already
Oh and I forgot to mention I met Elder Ballard this week haha this is me shaking his hand! Sorry it's blurry but whatevs
This is my district after we went to the temple this morning. The guy squatting down in the front in the dark grey suit is from Houston and we know some mutual people so that is cool too. My companion is the elder standing next to me and he is so awesome! He's from a small town in Idaho and he's hilarious haha I'm really grateful I've got him as my companion.
